I’m John Dennis Murphey, the photographer here at MurpheyWorks.
Most of my life, I’m happy to say, a camera has never left my side. And photography has played a big role in my architectural practice.
But my real interest in photography is shooting people, like in photojournalism or street photography and capturing the moment.
In April of 2017 and then again in January of 2018 I was a Visiting Artist at the American Academy in Rome with photography as my medium. My goal there was to capture in pictures the incredible vitality and diversity of this fantastic city.
My work resulted in a hardbound book entitled 40 Days in Rome, a flip book version of which can be viewed on this website under Flipbooks.
